Alan Ferguson is the Chief Housing and Real Estate Officer at Atlanta Housing (AH), the housing authority of the City of Atlanta. AH provides and facilitates affordable housing for over 27,000 low-income households comprised of approximately 45,000 people. He has held previous roles as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, and Senior Vice President, Development and Operations at the American Opportunity Foundation, Inc. (AOF). Prior to those roles, Ferguson gained extensive experience in affordable housing as Senior Vice President of Community Development for Invest Atlanta, a registered local government authority that was created to advance Atlanta’s global competitiveness by growing a strong economy, building vibrant communities, and increasing economic prosperity for all Atlantans. Ferguson was responsible for leading the division’s strategic, management, and transactional activities, providing oversight of a portfolio exceeding $1.6B in property assets and budget oversight exceeding $3M. Ferguson has formerly served as Credit Risk Manager for Fannie Mae and as a Senior Business Manager with AD&C Lending, Washington DC/Atlanta, GA.
Alan’s volunteer work is centered around community development, support for at-risk families, and economic empowerment. Alan serves as the chair of CHC’s Audit and Risk Management Committee and sits on the Executive Committee. He serves on several other boards including: Whitefoord, Inc., Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative, Inc., New Life Community Alliance, Inc., Livable Communities Council, HouseATL, and Oikos Institute for Social Impact, Inc.
Alan is a graduate of Morehouse College, Emory University, and Georgia State University; and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc.
