In 2010, Morgan Stanley provided capital of $20 million to Community Housing Capital to provide loans to NeighborWorks organizations for interim real estate development financing. At
a critical time when America’s real estate markets were significantly challenged, especially in low-to moderate-income neighborhoods, Morgan Stanley’s investment made a tremendous difference and enabled Community Housing Capital to continue to revolve the investment and provide more than $60 million in loans to NeighborWorks organizations.
Morgan Stanley also provided a generous grant of $720,000 to build balance sheet equity that was later matched by a grant from the CDFI Fund. Over the past five years, Morgan Stanley has provided valuable counsel in developing innovative investment structures and led the capitalization of a $100 million multi-bank syndicated credit facility with eight other financial institutions.
